  • Where are the encrypted files?

The encrypted files are stored in the folder .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** of all the storages of your device.
Note: You may not be able to see the folder because the folder whose name starts with a dot is a hidden folder. You need to configure your file explorer to show hidden folders.
There may be more than one storage in your device and and the encrypted file will be stored in the same storage as the original file.
For example, if you have an SD card installed in your device, you probably have two storages. If your picture is stored in the SD card, the encrypted file will be in the same SD card too.

    1. DO NOT delete, rename or move the folder .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** or any file in it.
    2. When an app is uninstalled, some files cleaning tool (E.g. Clean Master) may notify you to delete the files generated by the app. If you want to uninstall Gallery Vault temporarily and use it later, make sure do not confirm to delete when a dialog jumps asking you whether to delete the files generated by Gallery Vault.
    3. If you are using some cleaning tool, please make sure not to delete any files of Gallery Vault.
    4. If you want to change your device or factory reset your device or change the SD card, please backup your files first(Refer to the upper section 'How to backup and restore').
  • Please read the section 'How to make sure my files never be lost' and make sure you haven't deleted the folder .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_***.

Please make sure you have installed the latest version.

    • If you have copied the .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** folder from other devices, remember to copy all the .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** folder in all the storages. You can refer to How to Backup and Restore.
    • Go to Setting and tap Find Lost Files.
    • If you have backed up before, please restore it back. You can refer to How to Backup and Restore.
  • This is useful when you want to

    • change to a new device.
    • backup periodically.
    • factory reset and clear storage.

    Backup:

    1. Go to Setting page and tap Backup to backup all your files.

    1. Make sure Gallery Vault is not installed in your new device. If it is installed, unhide all files added in Gallery Vault and uninstall Gallery Vault first.
    2. Copy the .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** folders you backed up in the upper 'Backup' step to the storage of your new device.
Don't forget to check all of your storages.
      Note:
      • If you have backed up more than one .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** folder but your new device has only one storage, please merge all the backed-up .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** folders into one and copy the merged one to the storage of new device.
      • If your new device has more than one storage, you can copy the .galleryvault_DoNotDelete_*** folder to one of these storages. The big one is better.
Note: If your device's Android version is 4.4.2, you can only copy to the internal storage.
    3. Install and launch Gallery Vault, and a Restore dialog should show. Input your previous passcode and do the restore operation.
    4. If it doesn't work, you can go to setting and tap Find Lost Files to try to find the files you have copied into this device.
  • What can I do if I fail to launch Gallery Vault from Dialler?

Due to the Android's mechanism, if you force stopping Gallery Vault in App Manager, Gallery Vault will fail to be launched from Dialer.
